Skincare should be about prevention versus trying to fix the issue.
– Matthew Miller, Licensed Esthetician & Facial Guru
Within the last several years, skincare has become one of the most popularized practices in the beauty industry. Before that, it was common to hide skin issues under a full face of makeup—now though, having clear & healthy skin is what’s in.
But how do you choose which skincare routine is best for you? On the latest episode of Vagaro’s podcast On Point, host Taylor Burke spoke with Licensed Esthetician & Facial Guru, Matt Miller about this year’s trending facials and best practices in taking care of your skin.
In this article we’re going to explore some of the most popular facials of 2023, but if you’re looking to book a facial appointment now with Matthew or other skincare professionals, tap the button below to find experts in your area.
Microneedling
To relieve the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, stretch marks and other minor skin concerns, microneedling may be the right fit for you. Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that involves thin needles making tiny holes in the top layer of the skin to stimulate the healing process, which in turn produces collagen and elastin (the stuff that keeps skin looking smooth & firm).
This procedure should only be done by a medical professional or medical esthetician and costs around $300 per session, with most clients needing 3—6 sessions. The results last for about 6 weeks.
Another type of microneedling facial is called Morpheus8. Besides its super cool movie reference, Morpheus8 is a powerful procedure that delivers long-lasting results. This treatment involves a device that delivers radio frequencies into the skin to tighten & thicken its texture, tone and more! The cost can range from $700–$1,800.
HydraFacials
HydraFacials are innovative facial treatments that provide multiple benefits to boosting skin luminosity. It’s a non-invasive procedure that involves cleansing, exfoliating & extracting, and it’s great for all ages and different skin types.
Depending on your location, the price for HydraFacial’s can vary. The procedure typically starts at $200 for a basic treatment and can go up to $350 or more depending on added boosts during treatment.
HydraFacials are an excellent option for addressing fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and other signs of aging. Plus, you can ask for specific serums to boost your HydraFacial experience.
Red Light Therapy
This procedure casts wavelengths of red LED light through the skin to improve its appearance and is known to provide some mental health benefits as well. The cost can range from $25–$200 per session, with each lasting for 10–25 minutes. A Red Light Therapy treatment is performed every other day for several weeks and results from the treatment typically don’t appear until about 4 weeks after the initial procedure.
Visit a dermatologist or qualified cosmetic therapist for absolute best results. But because this is a noninvasive skin procedure, you can buy an at-home infrared light therapy kit to try it yourself.
Getting facials can be an effective way to rejuvenate your skin but it’s important to research which treatment is best for your skin type.
