When Aba Ahmed from Beauty Kulture in London first started out, she had specific ideas of inclusion for how her business would operate and why. She, herself, had experienced being turned away from beauty establishments. The reason?

Sorry, we don’t do Afro hair’ or ‘we don’t do your type of hair’ is what I heard a lot. Why is there not a salon where every woman can just walk in and be taken on as a customer? And then that’s when I started speaking to my brother, and I said, ‘I think there’s a massive market.

Aba Ahmed from Beauty Kulture in London saw a need, firsthand, for salons & hairstylists that could do any type of hair for whoever walked through their doors. Having been personally turned away from salons in the past due to the texture of her hair, Aba used those experiences as fuel to get the conundrum sorted. Now, she runs a successful salon that caters to all types of hair and makes every client who comes in feel like they’re welcome.

For Aba, her main concern is providing stellar customer service and she is adamant about going the extra mile to provide that personal touch. She wants each client who comes in to feel as though they’re a guest in her own home, and Vagaro helps out on that front. The system allows her to track what’s working & what isn’t for both her clientele & her business. Helpful features, like reports and an online booking system, take the frustration & phone tag out of the equation and make for an elevated client experience overall. In fact, with the online booking & portfolio options available, they know the caliber of service they’re bound to receive before they even arrive.

The Vagaro system has really helped us express who we are through our online platforms because the system is so well-structured that clients know what they’re getting when they come into the salon.

Providing a vast variety of hair services for all types of hair was step one. Next step? Actually getting found. A massive boost in clientele came by way of the Vagaro platform’s free salon Marketplace. Aba quickly realised it was a great tool to market her business to people in her area, specifically, and has utilised it ever since. That was one more thing taken from her plate, which left a lot more time for this busy owner to do more of what she loved.

I believe the Vagaro system not only reduces your stress level, but it also adds an advantage of how you can market your business in your local area.

Her success & vision was a personal matter for Aba Ahmed of London’s Beauty Kulture. Having been turned away from salons in the past, and experiencing that pang first-hand, her mission was clear. Doing something that no one else was doing can be scary, but making it the basis of your business model takes absolute courage. If you ask Aba, though, she will tell you it is worth it in order to make her clients feel like they belong. Vagaro is just pleased to be a part of that honourable endeavour.
